An interactive session was
conducted with the Principal Dr. Ashish Sasankar of the college and the M.Sc.
students on 13th September 2023 regarding the change in syllabus due to NEP.Two
Main changes are i.e Addition of the programming language C/C, Python and
Research Methodology (based on research and training.)
The
Principal emphasized on the following points.
The students need to work on Foundational
Knowledge, Individual and Team Work, Elementary Skills,Basic Analytic skills,Self-directed
and life-long learning,Computational Thinking etc.
And he
continued with the points: On-job training or a Field Project is a skill-based
practical program. The objective of this program is to allow the student to
gain vocational training in academics/ research/industry based on mathematical
concepts also to encourage the student to take up a lifetime vocation based on
the program he/she is pursuing. On-job training/field work will also allow the
student to work in a team and gain experience, which will be helpful in his/her
future endeavours.
This
program can be carried out in two ways: (A) Training in external research
Institute/ National Institute/ Industry/ Company based on mathematical applications
(B)
Alternatively, the student can take up a field-based project that can be
assigned by the Internal Mentor from the Department only during M.Sc. Sem-II
program. However, such a project will be based on field activity that will lead
to skill enhancement.
The
programme was attended by nearabout 40 students ,the faculties of Mathematics
Asst. Prof. Charu Gundare , Asst. Prof Prachi Kolhe, Asst. Prof Mahesh
Waghamare and Staff of CS Dept.were present.
The
session ended with a note from the Principal that “If the students collaborate,
they will Elaborate”.
